The Old Reading Room based in the village of Grenoside, (North Sheffield) is one of the few listed buildings to remain in the village. It has an interesting history and was built by public subscription circa. 1790. It was renovated in 2013 and opened in September as a valuable community resource and is available for hire. The renovation of the building was made possible by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Grenoside is very well located and lies approx. 5 miles North of Sheffield city centre. It is on School Lane, near to the junction with Norfolk Hill.
Facilities include a large main room with flexible seating arrangements and a sprung wooden floor which lends itself to dance, fitness and theatre rehearsals. We also have a fully equipped kitchen with a serving hatch into the main room. Outside to the front is stone flagged area with level access and a large garden to the rear. It is suitable for talks, small events, celebrations, parties, rehearsals, meetings and presentations.
The current hire costs are very reasonable at £12 for the first hour and £10 for each hour thereafter.
